Dr. M. Shamim MIAH, Assistant Professor, CE attends The SATREPS Fourth Workshop in Japan

 

Dr. M. Shamim MIAH is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at UAP. Recently, Dr. Miah has attended the 4th SATREPS Fourth Workshop on Project for Technical Development to Upgrade Structural Integrity of Buildings in Densely Populated Urban Areas and Its Strategic Implementation towards Resilient Cities in Tokyo, Japan, organized by the Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan. The workshop was held on November 5-7, 2016 in Tokyo, Japan.

The workshop was sponsored by Japan International Cooperation Agency – JICA. The project leaders from both side (1) Prof. Yoshiaki Nakano, Professor, Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo form Japan side and (2) Mr. Mohammad Abu Sadeque, Director, Housing and Building Research Institute from Bangladesh side were present in the workshop.The project leader of Bangladesh side, Mr. Sadequewas accompaniedby 6 other core members from different institutions of Bangladesh. The core members were from the following institutions HBRI, PWD, BUET, UDD, UAP and AUST.

As a representative of UAP, Dr. Miah has presented the Ideas of the upgrading schemes for Bangladeshi buildings in particular for Flat Slab/Plate structures in the workshop. There were several researchers from academia as well as from industries were presents in the event. Furthermore, two (Nandita SAHA and Sheikh Mohammad REDWAN) ex-CE graduates of UAP were also present there.
